OLD EXETER INN

The Exeter was established 1130 A.D. and has been going for almost 900 years making us one of the World’s Oldest Inns. In that time it has been a favoured haunt of several historical characters of note.

Sir Walter Raleigh was arrested here on July 19 1603, for treason against King James I and taken to the Tower of London. Before his incarceration, Raleigh used to enjoy drinking with Sir Francis Drake at the Exeter. More recently Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was
a regular client at the Inn when he was writing the Hound of the Baskervilles.

Today, the Old Exeter offers a truly wonderful atmosphere of an Inn from past times.
